The road to success is not a path you find... BUT A TRAIL YOU BLAZE

This BLOG about Matthieu Blazy is definitely long overdue. We thought about waiting for him to have a few collections under his belt before writing about him but since the craziness in March, we think it's time to get into it. If you don't know about Blazy we can start by telling you that he looks unassuming but still super chic, is 40 years old, Paris-Born and after graduating college he quickly became a senior designer at Celine. He moved around a bit before landing at Bottega Veneta where he might be solely responsible for reinventing that brand as the creative director starting in 2021.

Blazy took over the empty slot at Chanel after Virginie's departure and a long pause where we waited with baited breath to see who might be next and who could possibly ever fill Lagerfeld's shoes. His first collection with Chanel was last October at the Grand Palais for the Spring/Summber 2026 Ready-to-Wear show, but his first collection to drop in the U.S. was last month in March and we haven't stopped hearing about it since the moment it happened.

We can confidently say with this collection he has quite literally blazed his own trail starting with doing something Lagerfeld did with such ease, combining the old and the new and paying homage to Coco every chance he could while creating fresh and easy new looks. Bazaar Magazine said it best, "The accessories feel modern without disturbing the house's heritage" and Pavlovsky who is the president of Chanel Fashion said, "I am convinced that he will be able to play with the codes and heritage of the house" and we agree he did just that.

The proof is in the sales with a lot of this new collection actually selling out, so much hype on social media with influencers and lines around the corner for each store the day it dropped. For us the verdict is in and we are loving what we see so far and are actually excited for the first time in a long time to see the next collection drop. Blazy will have his hands full designing all 10 of the collections Chanel puts out each year which include two ready-to-wear, two couture, two pre-collections, one cruise, one Metiers d'art, Coco Beach and Coco Neige.

If you haven't had a chance to view the March Collection, head on over to Chanel.com and feast your eyes on some exciting new creations or drop in to one of the Chanel Boutiques and see it in person.
